BEAUTY ISN’T THE OPPOSITE OF DEPTH /
ayurveda places enormous importance on agni: our capacity to digest, transform and make something of what we take in.
that changed the way I think about beauty.
I’m much less interested in beauty as correction than I am in beauty as aliveness — circulation returning to a face, a jaw letting go, skin looking nourished, eyes becoming brighter, someone getting off the table looking somehow more like themselves. that is the kind of beauty I care about.
and then there’s marma — the slightly more mysterious thread running through everything I do.
Marma sits in that fascinating space between anatomy, touch and Ayurveda’s subtle energetic language. It connects my consultations, my bodywork and my facial practice: sometimes I work through food and daily rhythms, sometimes through muscle, fascia, lymph and skin, and sometimes through something a little harder to name.
different languages. same body.
Source has slowly become the place where all of those interests get to coexist: Ayurveda, beauty, touch, ritual, curiosity and a little bit of play.
study / practice / repeat
I love the intuitive side of this work, but intuition is not a substitute for study. Ayurveda is vast, and I still approach it first and foremost as a student. my practice has been shaped by training in traditional Ayurveda, marma, Ayurvedic beauty, facial massage, yoga and pranayama — and I continue learning as the work evolves.
